Project Overview

Literaku is an inclusive digital reading platform reimagining how visually impaired students and readers access books. In a world where Braille production costs can exceed $50 per book and printing times stretch for months, millions of blind and low-vision individuals face a "book famine"—lacking access to the educational and recreational reading materials that sighted readers take for granted. Literaku replaces this costly, time-intensive Braille production system with an affordable, voice-command digital library powered by Azure AI. The platform enables visually impaired users to browse, select, and read books entirely through voice navigation—no sighted assistance required. By transforming any digital text into an accessible, navigable audio experience, Literaku delivers instant access to literature that would otherwise be unavailable or prohibitively expensive. Unlike many assistive technologies built on theoretical innovation, Literaku was co-designed directly with blind learners at SLB-A Yapentra, a specialized school for the visually impaired. This partnership ensures every feature addresses real user needs rather than assumed accessibility requirements. The result is a platform that visually impaired users actually adopt and use, rather than well-intentioned technology that goes unused. Supported by Universitas Sumatera Utara and recognized through competitions including Telkom's Innovillage and CIAS.co's Ideannovation, Literaku empowers academic institutions, libraries, and individual readers to provide equitable access to knowledge. The platform transforms reading from a dependency relationship into an independent, dignified experience, enabling visually impaired students to learn and explore literature on their own terms. Literaku is not just making books accessible. It's making independence possible.

About Team

The Clear For All team combines expertise in accessible technology, AI development, and user-centered business strategy. Farhan Ar Rahman, CEO – Leads project development and strategic vision for Literaku. Farhan joined the project originally launched in 2022, driving its evolution toward global market readiness through platforms like Imagine Cup. He oversees partnerships and conducts direct user research with visually impaired communities at SLB-A Yapentra, ensuring the platform is built on authentic accessibility needs rather than assumptions. Clara Angelin Pijoh, CFO – Heads business strategy and financial sustainability. Clara develops business models specifically designed for the visually impaired market, bringing proven entrepreneurial experience from her own digital business venture guided by industry experts. She secured 12.5 million IDR in startup funding through competitive pitching at Universitas Sumatera Utara, demonstrating her ability to translate social impact into viable business strategies. Rifki Al Sauqy, CTO – Leads AI architecture and technical innovation. Rifki designs and integrates the AI-powered voice command navigation system that defines Literaku's user experience, architecting how interconnected AI components work seamlessly to deliver fully accessible digital reading. Muhammad Rizky Fadhillah, COO – Oversees platform operations and continuous improvement. Rizky manages Literaku's ongoing development by directly implementing feedback from visually impaired users, ensuring the application evolves based on real-world usage rather than theoretical features. The team operates with support from Universitas Sumatera Utara and maintains an active research partnership with SLB-A Yapentra to ground their innovation in lived experience. Together, they are committed to a philosophy that prioritizes user experience over feature quantity—creating technology that visually impaired users actually need and will use, rather than innovation for innovation's sake.
