Projektübersicht

According to research done by James Kellaris, 98 percent of individuals have experienced an earworm, and Kellaris implies that the other 2 percent are lying. The Music Community Based Recognition Application (Music-Cobra) is a cross platform application for Windows, iOS and Android. The intent of our app is to make identifying catchy tunes and nameless earworms fun and accurate. In order to accomplish this, the app relies on a community of people who enjoy listening to nameless melodies and identifying them. By answering and identifying songs, the app will award the user with achievements. If a user wants to submit an earworm themselves, they can sing their snippet into the app, which then sends the recording to a server which stores it in a database and distributes it to other users. Those who receive the snippet can then guess and suggest the name of the song back to the original questioner. After receiving a suggestion, the questioner can either accept or reject it. All those who helped identify the song name will be rewarded with in app points.

Info zum Team

We are Johannes Reber (18), Marius Brennfleck (20) and Aiko Wessels (19). We started studying as undergraduates in the 2017 winter semester at the Karlsruhe Institute for Technology (KIT) in Karlsruhe, Germany. All of us began attending university directly after our high school graduation. We are a diverse group. Aiko, who was born in Germany, grew up in Ohio where he attended grades 1-12. Therefore, he perfectly speaks English and German. Marius finished at a technical school, allowing him to gather experience with programming and databases. Johannes finished a general school one year early, but still gained some experiences abroad and insights into theoretical concepts. The three of us met this semester to take the subject Practice of Software Engineering, which requires us to build an application over the course of the whole semester. We decided to combine this course with the Imagine Cup competition.
