The autonomous driving car is getting more and more practical, we believe it will change the world in the near future, and we want to change the world as well. One thing we think about the autonomous driving car is that those people who are not able to drive a car will have the chance to "drive" one in the future. But there is a group of people, sadly, have the problem to even walk to these fancy cars, those people who are in the dark for their whole life. We believe if technology can enable a car from driving itself, it can also guide a person. A guide dog is good, but it requires a lot of time and money to train them. Our project focus on guiding blind people in public spaces. Computer vision can tell a car to drive on the road, it can also guide a person to walk on the sidewalks, to enter a grocery store, and dodge some light poles. It should be able to read signs just like autonomous driving cars, but even more, it should be able to read information in a store, so it can guide the person to purchase. It should be able to recognize people around. But how should we guide a blind person? Our solution is the sound. Blind people spend more time on hearing things and we believe they are good at it. We are going to build a 3D sound system that can tell where is the danger zone (road for cars), where is the route direction, also it can warn you if there is an emergency (there is an obstacle in your way) and guide you to dodge it.
