According to the fortune business insight market research report global video conferencing market is projected to grow from USD 6.28 billion in 2021 to USD 12.99 billion in 2028 at a CAGR of 10.09% during the 2021-2028 period. also, their report stated that the increasing adoption of remort learning solutions is one of the major key factors driving the market growth. When we consider conducting a video conference to a larger audience major problem having is that the host is unable to track the concentration level of the audience while conducting the meeting. According to a research published in Journal of Nursing and Health Science concentration level tends to decrease according to the length of lectures. Therefore If someone is conducting a meeting with a larger audience for a considerable amount of time concentration level is a key factor to decide the effectiveness of that meeting. When we consider top players in this market such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Cisco Webex any of these video conferencing applications doesn't provide the capability to track the concentration level of the audience in the meeting. According to the fortune business insight market research report, only 39% of the video conferencing meetings are set to be small room meetings and the rest is considered as meeting that include a large audience. As a group of undergraduate students due to the Covid 19 global pandemic, we had to do our studies through online video conferencing tools and we had to face this problem on daily basis. When the lecturer is conducting the meeting for a larger number of students they won’t be able to track the concentration level of the class like they do in the traditional physical classroom. Due to this problem, they won’t be able to deliver the lecture as they do in the physical classroom. That's where the idea of Ilec came to our mind. Ilec is an online video conferencing platform that will be able to track the concentration level of the participants of the meeting and able to provide real-time feedback to the host of the meeting throughout the meeting. In Ilec if the participant is participating in a meeting they are asked to turn on the camera. In Ilec we never store or take any images from the camera. If the user enables the camera. We take take the landmarks of the participants and send those facial landmarks to our custom trained Ml model which is built using ML.NET. Once the application received the landmarks of the participants It will summarize the concentration level of the participants and provide the response to the host of the meeting through two different formats which are a graph and a real-time indicator. Ilec is built as a stand-alone video conferencing platform using ASP.Net Core and Angular JS and hosted in Microsoft Azure Web Apps along with the usage of Cosmos DB. And the main purpose of this application is to showcase the possibility of this Idea and as proceed further we are planning to implement an extension for the Microsoft Teams application.

Acerca del equipo

We are a team of undergraduate students from Sri Lanka. We are doing a bachelors degree in Software Engineering and Computer Science at the Informatics Institute of Technology in Sri Lanka. Ilec came into our mind due to the difficulties we faced in online classes. When we are attending online lectures our lecturers faced this problem and it affected our studies as well. That's why we thought to give a solution to this problem. This is not only applicable to the education domain but also in other domains as well where video conferencing applications are used.
