Project Overview

1 in 5 children in the United States have learning disabilities and attention disorders like dyslexia, ADHD, Dyscalculia, Dysgraphia, Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) and Language Processing Disorder (LPD). Individuals with Dyslexia face significant challenges in educational settings, team presentations and meetings where a lot of the presentation is solely text, numbers and/or graphs. Some of the specific challenges faced by individuals lying on the spectrum of learning disabilities face are the following. Difficulty reading normal text (Dyslexia) context blindness (figuring out senses of different words in different scenarios) and trouble focusing on dense, solely textual material without visualizations. This is where Tandemly comes in. Through an array of services built into AR, our project aims at enhancing the learning and perceptory experience for individuals with these conditions. In essence, we aim to transform educational experiences for individuals with learning disabilities.

About Team

Our team consists of four members - Sai Gurrapu, Jaidev Shah, Aniruddha Pandey and Devansh Shah. Sai and Jaidev connected at a college hackathon over a common goal - which was to work on an impactful project that we can think about for years to come and Tandemly was the result. Soon after, Aniruddha Pandey and Devansh Shah saw that we were tackling a meaningful problem and decided to join. We are all interested in social impact projects which utilize technology to solve problems on a global scale. We do everything with an intense passion and our common interests are Machine Learning, Blockchain, and Social Entrepreneurship. The concept and prototype were first developed at Stanford University’s TreeHacks hackathon and Tandemly won the Best Social Good Award which was sponsored by Microsoft Azure. We believe Tandemly has the potential to positively transform education for individuals with learning disabilities.
