Project Overview

Startup Name: Lumina Vision Mascot & Interface: Lumi Slogan: Bridging the gap between perception and reality. Lumina Vision develops advanced assistive technology designed to provide objective reality verification for individuals navigating complex sensory or perceptual environments. Our flagship solution, Lumi, is an AI-powered mediator integrated into smart eyewear that identifies, validates, and signals the presence of real people in real-time, restoring confidence and autonomy to the user. The Problem Millions of people worldwide face challenges related to perceptual uncertainty—whether due to sensory processing disorders, neurological conditions, or high-stress environments. The inability to distinguish between actual environmental stimuli and perceived ones can lead to severe anxiety, social withdrawal, and a loss of independence. The solution Through a high-speed Head-Up Display (HUD), the Lumi interface visually marks real people with a subtle glow, providing instant environmental confirmation. Technical Robustness Lumina is built on a high-performance stack to ensure the low latency required for real-time human interaction: Computer Vision: Powered by a customized YOLOv8 model for high-speed person detection. Cloud Infrastructure: Hosted on Azure Container Apps to ensure scalable, low-latency processing. Decision Engine: Uses Azure OpenAI Service to formulate neutral, concise, and calming verbal responses. Voice Interface: Integrated with Azure Speech Services for natural, human-like interaction that supports the user without being intrusive. Market & Impact Targeting the intersection of Assistive Tech and Enterprise Health Solutions, Lumina Systems offers a data-driven approach to mental well-being and environmental safety. Our goal is to set a new standard for how AI can be used not just to augment reality, but to stabilize it—providing users with a reliable, objective anchor to the world around them. Initially designed for people who suffer from hallucinations due to psychological conditions, the project can be adapted to other deficiencies in the perception of reality. Through a high-speed Head-Up Display (HUD), the Lumina interface visually marks real people with a subtle glow, providing instant environmental confirmation. With this in mind, it can be said that the project currently primarily distinguishes hallucinations that take human forms; however, with the evolution of the software, new modalities of altered reality may be explored.

About Team

Our team is a group of students united by a love of innovation, competition, and solving complex challenges. Combining our skills, we accepted Microsoft's challenge with the goal of developing a winning project that is useful to the community. We are a team passionate about Hackathons and Ideathons and have participated in many competitions (both individually and as a team). Each of us has unique skills that, when combined, allow us to develop robust and real projects. Valentina Tellini | Vision, Design, and Market Education: Public Administration Role: Leads the strategic roadmap of Lumina Systems, ensuring that technology remains human-centered and non-confrontational. Developed the project pitch and design. Experience in competitions: YICGG2025 (Youth Innovation Competition on Global Governance), Inovathon BBDW 2025, and developing a project for HultPrize 2026 Luiz Cavalcante | AI and Computer Vision Leader Education: Business Role: Responsible for optimizing YOLOv8 models and ensuring the high-speed detection required for the "Truth Filter". Manages backend orchestration in Azure Container Apps, ensuring latency of less than one millisecond and data security for our users. Experience in competitions: ADBI Challenge (Brazilian Industrial Development Agency), Inovathon BBDW 2025, Hackathon São Paulo for Climate COP30 and developing a project for HultPrize 2026 Clarysse Dias | UX and Human Interface Designer Education: Business Role: Designed the Lumi mascot and the HUD interface, prioritizing low cognitive load and user comfort. Experience in competitions: MIT Hacking Medicine Brazil, ADBI Challenge (Brazilian Agency for Industrial Development), Inovathon BBDW 2025, Hackathon São Paulo for Climate COP30, 36th National Meeting of Undergraduate Courses in Administration (ENANGRAD), and developing a project for HultPrize 2026. Our Collective Strength In addition to our individual qualifications, our team has a proven track record in developing complete solutions using a combination of computational and human tools. We believe that the best technology is invisible; it doesn't impose itself on the user, but supports them in the background. Our diverse experience allows us to approach the challenge of the "Reality Mediator" from all angles: from the mathematical precision of people detection to the psychological nuance of a reassuring voice interface.
