MAMA MARIA FOUNDATION

I am a young, hard working woman and a Kenyan citizen. I am currently based in Mombasa where I have been born and raised. I studied at the United States International University - Africa and pursued a degree in Bachelor’s of Science in International Business Administration. This is a combination of five disciplines including: Marketing, Management, Finance, Accounting and Entrepreneurship which you study in the time of your studies. I have work experience as a data clerk, researcher, office assistant, an accountant, a senior accountant and a chef. Currently, I have my own practice where I impact skills to the women and girls in my community. I am involved in charities such as equipping life skills to the girls, guiding and counselling among other giveaways like school uniforms and sanitary towels. However, I have passion for community and social work. My life vision drives me towards community development. I am excited by tasks related to empowering the youths, women, and children in the society because I have the humanitarian spirit in me. I have thrice volunteered in North and Northern Eastern Kenya as a teacher. The challenges there cannot equate the level of fulfillment I get once I finish the volunteering period. Seeing young girls equipped with education and skills and having a chance to fight for their spots in the society among the marginalized communities bring tears to my eyes. It is my long term goal to see women all over the world in urban and even rural set ups get to high literacy levels being able to fend for themselves and their dependents.

I am a strong at heart young African woman who is changing communities in a number of ways especially the marginalized communities in Africa. I studied at the United States International University- Africa and pursued a degree in Bachelor of Science in International Business Administration. I did my concentration in Finance. I was on the dean’s list my entire campus academic life and graduated with honors (Magna cum laude) a GPA OF 3.718 out of 4.0. Currently, I am engaged with a number of organizations in Mombasa, Kenya. They include Rainbow Women of Kenya, PEMA Kenya and INEND Kenya. My work with these organizations is to offer financial consultancy and assist them with resource mobilization mechanisms and strategic management. I am particularly a leader and a member of the Rainbow Women of Kenya (RWOK) Movement. Outside Africa, I work with The Future Females and staunch member of FRIDA. I am mostly advocating for women and minorities’ rights using the organizations’ spaces with the articles and pieces I gather from the research I perform across Africa and beyond. I have passion for community development and social work. I am thrilled by tasks related to empowering the youths, women, and children in the society. I am planning to advance my scope in Resourcing persons in these spaces and bring out much more strong movements. This I will do through immense resource mobilization across the International organizations aimed at Development and Human Rights, some of which I have established links with. This grant will enable me to get more skills and means to reach out to poverty stricken groups of women and children. It perfectly aligns with my vision and goals One of my long term goals which I have had in me since I was a teenager is to start a feeding program in my local town here in Mombasa Kenya. I plan to mobilize resources and start to feed the people of the slums of Mikindani, Jomvu Subcounty in Mombasa Kenya. I have plans put in place and this foundation will start to operate come 2023 among other things like impacting the girls in my community with relevant skills that will give them a livelihood. I am a focused individual and a hard worker. I do assignments given to me diligently and I go for nothing less than excellence. I am always humble and honest.
