Project Overview
Heart disease is the leading cause of death among the elderly, with congenital heart disease having the highest mortality rate of all congenital disabilities. According to WHO statistics, 17.9 million people die from heart disease each year, and over 80% of those who died had never been diagnosed due to a lack of efficient and accessible Tools for regular check-ups. This realization led us to create the CS-M Tool, a medical innovation that enables anyone to get a precise and regular heart check-up, anytime and anywhere, and help prevent the chances of paralysis and premature death for more than 703 million people worldwide.
The early detection and diagnosis of CVDs are crucial for survival, and we want to ensure that everyone can access to the necessary tools for it. Which is why our tool is aimed to assist three main user groups: patients, cardiologists, and hospitals.
To create the most accurate and efficient tool possible, we tested and compared various neural networks with datasets verified by our consulting cardiologist team. And the AI can classify four CVDs: Murmur, Atrial Fibrillation, Tachycardia, and Bradycardia.
The CS-M Tool has three main functions: C: Checkup, A: Awareness, and R: Refer, which we refer to as CAR, the car that will bring you and your heart to a faster treatment. The C: Checkup, the function allows users to easily screen their heart with three simple steps: Place the stethoscope in the correct position, wait for 10 seconds while the app records and analyzes the heart sounds, and view the results. Before starting the screening, users must read and understand where to place the stethoscope for optimal results. The A: Awareness, the function creates awareness by displaying recent results, allowing users to visualize heart degeneration and track weekly results such as average BPM and average heart sound similarities. It also has a knowledge function where the user can read and understand heart disease, to create awareness but to not be alarmed. Lastly R: Refer, the function includes a family notification feature that alerts a caretaker if the user is at high risk, as well as a nearby hospital function and a Heart Medical Report feature to help with the doctor’s diagnosis.
To make the CS-M Tool a reality and help people in an international level. The process of making a medical device must be very delicate and standardized. So, we have reasonably separated the process into 3 phases in 10 months. In the 1st phase (4 months), we start to develop an AI for detecting heart sound abnormalities and use data from various studies, including those from the University of Washington and Johannes Kepler University. We collaborated with the Faculty of Medicine at Chiang Mai University to collect and verify datasets for our AI prototype. In the 2nd phase (3 months), we tested and improve the CS-M tool each time we test with an auscultation simulator, until the CS-M Tool can correctly classify all the heart sounds. Then in the 3rd phase (3 months), we tested with 5 controlled human testing group in total 125 heart disease patients at Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital, achieving 95% accuracy. We also worked with a professor from the Faculty of Engineering at Chiang Mai University throughout the phases to test and improve the stethoscope and microphone components of the tool. Our team continues to research and improve the tool, with plans to launch it soon. We have already copyrighted this tool and are in the process of obtaining a patent.
The CS-M Tool is a unique and innovative tool that allows easy and affordable heart checkups. Unlike CT-Scan, ECG which often require a trip to the hospital and can be costly, or a smart watch that can’t check for all heart disease. The CS-M Tool is a tool that can be used anytime and anywhere is much more accessible and accurate than any other traditional methods. The tool also has a sustainable aspect, as early detection and treatment of heart disease can save lives and address the increasing global issue of cardiovascular disease, which all of this aligns with the UNSDG of "good health and well-being".
The CS-M Tool is a crucial component of the Heart Disease Care and Referral Project, which has the support of our medical team and hospital partners. Our plan is to first distribute the tool to Mae Chaem Hospital in Thailand for user feedback and testing with the public, and then to roll it out to all 9,826 district hospitals and 7850 local hospitals throughout Thailand. We also have plans to expand the CS-M Tool globally through MOU with other countries. Our focus will start first with four developing countries - Myanmar, Malaysia, and Vietnam - as well as six developed countries such as Japan, Germany, and the United States, which have the highest CVD mortality rates despite advanced medical technology. The CS-M Tool is both affordable and accurate, making it a valuable resource in the effort to save over 703 million lives worldwide.

Tanapat Charunworaphan, the CEO and co-founder, is an AI developer with over 8 years of experience and a proven track record of 7 successful technology projects.
Noppawit Chunram, also a co-founder, is a full-stack developer with 6 years of experience and a history of 4 projects, including 2 in the field of technology.
Matt T. Cosh, another co-founder, brings expertise in software, hardware, and robotics with over 8 years of experience and a proven track record of more than 6 projects, including 3 in the field of technology, in the past 5 years.
All of us are high school students at Prince Royal's College (PRC) in Thailand, studying in the Science Integrated Innovation program (SII) of the Gifted Computer PLUS, which focuses on teaching students about the field of technology.

Associate Professor Sirianong Namwongprom at Chiang Mai University's Department of Radiology, is a specialist in PET/CT, Nuclear Medicine, Bone Mineral Density, and Dual-Energy X-ray Absorptiometry and serves as a consultant and advisor in Cardiology and Human Ethics.
Narawudt Prasertwittayakit, MD at Bangkok Hospital in Chiang Mai, serves as an advisor in Patient Awareness and Clinical Trials with a specialization in Internal Medicine and Cardiology.
Rekwan Sittiwangkul, MD at Bangkok Hospital, and Chiang Mai University's Department of Pediatrics, who is a Pediatric Consultant and Clinical Trial Advisor in Pediatric Cardiology.
Kwannapas Saensin, MD at Chiang Mai University's Department of Pediatrics, who is a Pediatric Consultant and Clinical Trial Advisor in Pediatric Cardiology.
Lastly, we have Associate Professor Dr.Yottana Khunatorn at Chiang Mai University's Department of Mechanical Engineering, who serves as a consultant and advisor in engineering with a specialization in Computational Fluid Dynamics and Heat Transfer, and Cardiovascular and a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado.

We are planning to launch a startup so that The CS-M Tool can help people around the world sustainably. And we have also received funding from government organizations and from competitions, in total more than 30,000$ such as from the Prime minister science project, Junior Science Talent Project, the Thailand Science Society, and Intel Corporations.
